North Meckleburg Crime Stoppers Has Helped For Over 30 years!

The North Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers was founded in October of 1990 by a group of north Mecklenburg-area citizens who wanted to make sure their little part of the world stayed safe and secure. Long-time north Mecklenburg resident Milton Almond was the driving force behind the creation of the Crime Stoppers organization here. Realizing there was no Crime Stoppers organization between Charlotte and Mooresville, Almond polled local business and civic leaders and found that there was a need for such an organization here. North Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers was formed soon afterwards. Some of the original board members included Bob Cashion, Helen Dove, Sid Abramsky, Walt Neil, Jo Felts and William Tabor. Over the years, community leaders from all three northern towns have served on the Crime Stoppers board.

The current board members include:

David Rochester - Chairman
Thomas Gillan - Vice Chairman
Kevin Bayne - Secretary
Arlene Arciero - Treasurer

Dr. Anita Bledsoe-Gardner
Dan Boone
William Walsh
Dennis Zennatti
Beth Cashion
Brian Sisson
Tommy Davis
Dale Callan

Our Mission

Crime Stoppers mission is to assist north Mecklenburg's four police departments (Cornelius Police, Davidson Police, Davidson College Police and Huntersville Police) in any way possible in helping to make this a safer area. In particular, Crime Stoppers supports police through its reward program, which over the years has paid out tens of thousands of dollars to concerned citizens and police-recruited informants, who have supplied information that leads to an arrest or conviction. Crime Stoppers' Reward program allows individuals to provide information, and receive payment with anonymity.

Crime Stoppers also supports Crime Prevention through its website and through other Crime Prevention Awareness programs, such as the Citizens Crime Stoppers Award, which recognizes citizen participation in the fight against crime.
